TECHNIFILL™ R1170 – Lightweight Epoxy Edge-Filling & Hardware Insert Compound

TECHNIFILL™ R1170 is a lightweight, two-part epoxy paste system designed for edge-filling composite panels, rebated cores and structural details in marine, architectural and industrial composite construction. With a simple 1:1 mix ratio by volume, the resin and hardener combine to form a stiff, dough-like paste that can be easily mixed by hand and pressed directly into cored edges without slumping or draining.

As a pre-thickened system, R1170 eliminates the common edge-filling method of blending powder fillers into liquid epoxy—offering a cleaner, faster and more consistent application process. The system produces no exotherm in bulk mixes and delivers more than 20% weight savings compared to standard epoxy filler mixtures, making it ideal for high-performance composite structures.

TECHNIFILL™ R1170 also performs exceptionally well as an insert material for mounting hardware such as hinges, latches, handles and door locks. Screws drive easily into the cured compound, delivering strong retention comparable to plywood, timber or high-density foam inserts. Its reliable mechanical behaviour, ease of use and compatibility with a wide range of substrates make R1170 a highly versatile solution for composite manufacturers.
