Crystic® Vinyl Ester Resin VE679-03PA

Low-Exotherm Vinyl Ester Resin for Large-Scale Infusion & Chemically Durable Composite Structures

Crystic® VE 679-03PA is a pre-accelerated, DCPD-modified vinyl ester resin developed for vacuum infusion and closed-mould composite manufacturing where low exotherm, excellent flow, and high laminate quality are critical.

Designed to support the infusion of large and complex structures, VE 679-03PA delivers outstanding fibre wet-out, controlled cure behaviour, and reduced fibre print-through — resulting in durable, high-quality laminates with excellent surface finish. The resin also offers excellent resistance to osmotic blistering, making it well suited to marine, industrial, and infrastructure applications exposed to moisture or aggressive service conditions.

VE 679-03PA is available in standard and extended gel-time variants, allowing manufacturers to tailor processing windows to part size, ambient temperature, and infusion complexity.

Resin Variants & Processing Windows

Crystic® VE 679-03PA is supplied in two infusion-optimised variants:

VE 679-03PA (Standard)
  • Typical gel time:
    ~60 min with 1.5% Butanox® M50 @ 25°C
    ~80 min with 2.0% Trigonox® 249 @ 25°C

  • Ideal for medium to large infused parts requiring controlled exotherm and high surface quality

VE 679-03PA (100)
  • Typical gel time:
    ~100 min with 1.5% Butanox® M50 @ 25°C

  • Designed for very large or complex infusions where extended flow time and maximum process control are required

Resin Properties (Uncured)

  • Appearance: Brown / Red

  • Viscosity: ~175 mPa·s (Brookfield Spindle 3, 60 rpm @ 25°C)

  • Specific Gravity: ~1.1

  • Volatile Content: ~41%

  • Storage Stability: Up to 6 months at ≤20°C

Mechanical & Thermal Properties (Cured

(Post cure applied)
  • Barcol Hardness: ~34

  • Heat Deflection Temperature (HDT): ~97°C

  • Tensile Strength: ~64 MPa

  • Tensile Modulus: ~3.4 GPa

  • Elongation at Break: ~2.3%

Post curing is recommended to achieve optimum chemical, water, and heat resistance for demanding service environments.

Processing & Handling

Crystic® VE 679-03PA is pre-accelerated and requires only the addition of a suitable medium-reactivity MEKP catalyst. Low-exotherm catalyst systems may be used to further optimise cure control, reduce shrinkage, and enhance surface finish.

Important: Catalyst and accelerator must never be mixed directly together.

Packaging & Availability

  • 1000 kg IBCs

  • Bulk supply available on request
