Duratec® Clear SunShield Polyester Topcoat – 904-061

UV-Resistant, High-Gloss Polyester Topcoat for Exterior Composite & Marine Applications

Duratec® Clear SunShield 904-061 is an advanced UV-resistant polyester topcoat engineered to deliver long-term clarity, gloss retention and exterior durability without the need for a urethane clear coat. Formulated to resist yellowing under harsh sunlight, SunShield creates a high-gloss, chemically resistant protective layer ideal for exterior carbon fibre components, FRP parts, marine surfaces (above waterline), and outdoor timber elements.

Designed for ease of application and finish quality, SunShield sprays smoothly, builds evenly, and sands and polishes exceptionally well, enabling users to achieve a “wet-look” gloss surface with minimal effort. Its highly cross-linked structure provides excellent impact resistance, flexibility and chemical performance, ensuring long-term aesthetic and functional protection in demanding outdoor environments.

Key Features

Outstanding UV Resistance

Resists yellowing and degradation under sunlight—no urethane clear coat required.

Polishes to a deep, reflective gloss ideal for carbon fibre, FRP and premium surface finishes.

Sprays smoothly, levels well, and sands/polishes easily for professional results.

Ready to use with simple MEKP catalysis; cures without wax, delivering reliable consistency.

Highly cross-linked polymer network ensures strong resistance to solvents and environmental exposure.

Provides excellent impact resistance and flexibility, supporting use on rigid and semi-flexible substrates.

Suitable for in-mold coating, wet-on-wet over polyester gelcoat, or as a topcoat over cured laminates.

Why Choose Duratec® Clear Coatings?

Superior Optical Clarity

Formulated to deliver true clarity and high-gloss finishes with minimal colour shift or haze, ensuring premium visual presentation.

Rapid-build coatings that can be sanded and polished to a flawless, ultra-smooth surface ideal for moulding or finishing workflows.

Deep substrate wetting improves adhesion, reduces porosity, and enhances the performance of subsequent finishing layers.

Rapid gelling and quick sanding times help fabricators accelerate plug and pattern preparation while maintaining surface accuracy.

Compatible with polyester, vinyl ester and most epoxy systems, depending on product selection—supporting a broad range of manufacturing processes.

High thermal stability and strong mechanical properties deliver long-lasting surface integrity for industrial and marine applications.
