WEST SYSTEM® 500 Series Additives — Enhance the Performance & Finish of Your Epoxy Coatings

The WEST SYSTEM® 500 Series Additives are specialty powders and pigments designed to modify the appearance and surface properties of WEST SYSTEM® epoxy coatings. When blended into mixed epoxy, these additives enhance abrasion resistance, improve UV durability, adjust colour, and deliver customised surface finishes suitable for marine, industrial and composite applications.

Whether you are seeking a durable low-friction coating, a decorative colour finish, or improved wear characteristics, WEST SYSTEM® additives provide simple, reliable performance enhancements—all while maintaining the quality and consistency expected from the WEST SYSTEM® range.

As the authorised Australian distributor of WEST SYSTEM® products, ATL Composites ensures reliable supply, technical support and expert guidance across the complete WEST SYSTEM® epoxy range.

Available Additives:

  • 423 Graphite Powder — Provides increased abrasion resistance, reduced friction, and a low-sheen black finish. Ideal for rudders, centreboards, keel surfaces and wear areas.

  • 501 White Pigment — An opaque white tint for clean, even colour effects in epoxy coatings and laminations.

  • 502 Black Pigment — A deep black tint used for solid colour finishes, detailing, and visual enhancements in composite work.

423 Graphite Powder
423 Graphite Powder

423 Graphite Powder is a fine black powder that can be mixed with WEST SYSTEM epoxy to produce a low friction coating with increased scuff resistance and durability. 423 is often used as a low-load, low-speed bearing surface, and as a coating on rudders and centreboards, or on the bottoms of racing craft that are dry sailed. It does not provide antifouling qualities.

501 502 Pigments
501 & 502 Pigments

501 and 502 Pigments are epoxy-based pastes used to tint the epoxy mixture and provide an even colour base, or to highlight surface flaws and imperfections, prior to the final finish system. Adding a colouring agent to WEST SYSTEM epoxy is frequently done to make coloured casting, highlight an epoxy coated surface, or to act as a coloured base coat for paint, etc.
