Duratec® White Vinyl Ester Primer – 1794-006

High-Performance Primer for Plugs, Patterns & Composite Tooling

Duratec® White Vinyl Ester Primer is a rapid-curing, high-build primer designed to deliver exceptional surface quality for plugs, patterns, moulds and composite tooling. Based on a highly functional vinyl ester resin system, it offers outstanding strength, chemical resistance, low porosity and excellent adhesion across a wide range of substrates—including composites, wood, MDF, metals and 3D-printed tooling materials.

Originally developed as a premium barrier coat for boat hulls, this primer has proven its reliability across automotive, architectural, marine, transportation and industrial composite applications.

Key Features

Why Choose Duratec® Primers?

Exceptional Surface Quality

Formulated to eliminate pinholes, porosity and print-through, Duratec primers build rapidly to deliver a fair, high-density surface ready for sanding and finishing.

High-solids, easy-to-sand formulations reduce labour time while delivering consistent results—ideal for commercial production environments.

Originally developed for high-performance marine applications, Duratec primers now support a wide range of industries requiring accuracy, stability, and long-term durability.

Suitable for polyester, vinyl ester, epoxy laminates, FRP moulds, plug construction, composite tooling, and repair substrates.

Applications

Duratec® Primers are trusted across industries:

  • Marine hulls, decks & superstructures

  • Composite plugs, moulds & tooling surfaces

  • Automotive panels & component refinishing

  • Industrial composite parts

  • Repairs, fairing and surface correction

  • High-gloss, colour-critical topcoat preparation

Whether you’re constructing a large tooling plug for advanced composite manufacturing or refinishing a performance marine vessel, Duratec® offers the reliability and speed demanded by professional fabricators.
