TECHNIREZ® R2578 – CNC-Machinable Epoxy Tooling Paste

TECHNIREZ® R2578 is a low-density, CNC-machinable epoxy tooling paste engineered for the rapid manufacture of moulds, plugs, patterns, and precision tooling. Specifically designed for machine application, R2578 delivers excellent machining characteristics and surface quality, enabling accurate geometry, smooth finishes, and seam-free tooling surfaces.

Formulated with low exotherm and minimal shrinkage, R2578 can be applied in thick sections up to 40 mm on vertical surfaces, allowing fast build-ups over large areas without distortion. When applied at 25°C, the system cures to a solid state in under 24 hours and can be CNC-machined within 12–24 hours, supporting short turnaround tooling schedules.

Once cured, TECHNIREZ® R2578 produces a vacuum-tight, dimensionally stable tooling surface capable of withstanding repeated machining, handling, and composite processing operations. Its low density and predictable thermal behaviour make it well suited to large tooling structures where weight reduction and dimensional accuracy are critical.

R2578 is intended for use with dedicated mixing and dispensing equipment to ensure uniform blending and minimise air inclusion. Typical applications include CNC-machined moulds and patterns used across marine, wind energy, automotive, industrial, and advanced composite manufacturing sectors.
